Our Name
Our Name
Officially, we're Creosote Affects, LLC, and yes, Creosote is the “stuff they use on telephone poles and railroad ties,” but it’s much more than that. Did you know it’s also a wonderfully fragrant desert plant that produces spectacular yellow blossoms?

When faced with naming a marketing firm, Joe and Rich “put their heads together.” They’re different and so is their name. The name had to be provocative and strong—and make sense to those who need to know the literal meaning of things. Truth be told— Joe wanted to be known simply as, Creosote—inspired by folk rockers, Son Volt—but that name alone was not available. “Affects” was a natural for Rich to devise.
