Barb leads copy development for creative projects.  She has a hands-on role in researching and writing copy for a variety of Creosote’s marketing activities.  She also works closely as part of the creative team helping to develop design concepts and strategies. 

Personal Profile
Barb earned a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Virginia, where she was an Echols Scholar and named a member of Phi Beta Kappa in recognition of her high academic achievements.  After receiving her master’s in education from Virginia Tech, she taught secondary school English until joining a full-service marketing agency in the early nineties as a senior writer. Two years ago, Barb started her own business, Ruppert Writing Works, and now enjoys writing for senior care and higher education clients while partnering with marketing and creative services firms. Her writing has won numerous honors, including the Frederick County American Advertising Federation’s Best of Show Award in 1997 for Hood College’s undergraduate marketing brochures.

Education Experience
Barb has been involved in a variety of projects and has developed a special expertise in higher education.  Barb has written capital campaign centerpieces that have consistently delivered outstanding results.

She has worked extensively with The George Washington University (GW). In conjunction GW’s graduate marketing director, she developed a common application booklet and accompanying overview brochures for the university’s graduate schools.  She played the primary role in the development of creative concepts for a series of graduate admissions brochures, including research, photo shoot planning and copywriting. She also wrote and edited GW’s School of Business and Public Management’s alumni newsletter.

Most recently Barb developed copy and creative concepts for the entire undergraduate admissions cycle for St. Mary’s College of Maryland.  She is currently writing two undergraduate recruitment publications for Central Pennsylvania College and Shepherd College
