Company Role
In this business an editing mistake can cost thousands of dollars, unhappy clients, and weeks of delay by not catching errors. Because of her almost uncanny ability to catch errors in sentence construction and design consistency in addition to those dreaded typos, Cindy has become a trusted partner of Creosote Affects. The grammatical stuff is a given, but she gives us a fresh (and professional) perspective on the materials we produce. We always feel better when the last hands to touch the project are Cindy’s! Equally important, she never sweats a deadline.
Personal Profile
For the past ten years, Cindy Kalinoski has been proofreading a variety of publications for businesses and publishers. From textbooks to cookbooks, and from fiction to web sites and annual reports, she has developed a well-earned reputation for thoroughness and insightful input. Although this might not sound like your idea of a good time, Cindy has dedicated herself to a continuing study of English trends and grammar along with writing, editing and proofreading techniques. She actually enjoys proofreading (really!), and prefers to work in partnership with marketing and design firms, especially the Right and Left Brains at Creosote Affects.
In the late 1990s, Cindy’s clients noted her writing and copywriting skills and began to utilize those services as well. To incorporate these services into her proofreading business, Cindy formed a more comprehensive business, which she named The Word Helper. Cindy has worked for many companies over the years, including McGraw-Hill, Prentice Hall, Blue Cross and Armstrong and current clients Dale Carnegie, Penn State University, the York County Chamber of Commerce and Hershey Foods.
Her writing appears regularly in Susquehanna Style Magazine and BusinessVoice. Cindy sits on the Board of Directors of the York County Chamber of Commerce and was awarded Volunteer of the Year for 2003.
