Personal Profile
Hilary graduated from Duke University with a degree in history, spending much of the four years reading, and writing, reading and writing. She spent her first years after school working as a newspaper reporter for a chain of weekly papers outside Boston, where she learned how to tell a story clearly, concisely, and accurately. She later joined a small PR firm in Boston as an account executive, learning the business of client relationships, and how to write persuasively.

During the 1990’s Hilary turned her eye toward television, and, after receiving an M.S. Degree in Communications, began a nearly decade-long career as a news producer at network affiliate stations in cities across the country, including Boston, Seattle, and Denver. She learned to tell a story as accurately, and effectively as possible, sometimes in as little as 15 seconds, under extreme deadlines. More than anything, she learned the incredible impact the right combination of words and images can have on an audience. The right partnership, like the Right and Left Brains of Creosote Affects, can be an incredibly powerful tool.

Most of Hilary’s current writing is for the City of Frederick’s Office of Special Events, where she helps produce and publicize 12 events throughout the year.
